Evaluation of Intermountain Risk Score for Short- and Long-Term Mortality in ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction Patients

Tufan Cinar et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the Intermountain Risk Score (IMRS) in predicting short- and long-term mortality in ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients and compare it with other well-known risk scores. The results showed that IMRS had similar predictive capability for mortality compared to the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) and Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE) risk scores in STEMI patients.

Long-term outcomes in inferior ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction patients with right ventricular myocardial infarction

Mengjin Hu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic influence of right ventricular myocardial infarction (RVMI) on patients with inferior ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The results showed that RVMI did not increase all-cause mortality in the contemporary reperfusion era, but it was associated with a higher risk of major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events. Timely reperfusion treatment was found to decrease all-cause mortality.

Frequency and prognostic impact of right ventricular involvement in acute myocardial infarction

Thomas Stiermaier et al.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the frequency and prognostic implications of concomitant structural and functional right ventricular injury in myocardial infarction patients. Results showed that right ventricular ischemia was associated with increased risk of adverse cardiac events, while right ventricular infarction only showed numerically increased event rates. Right ventricular GLS was identified as an independent predictor of postinfarction adverse events.

Right Ventricular Dysfunction Is Common and Identifies Patients at Risk of Dying in Cardiogenic Shock

Pankaj Jain et al.

Summary: The study identifies an association between right ventricular dysfunction and poor outcomes in cardiogenic shock patients, with key differences across etiology and shock severity. Further research is needed to evaluate the utility of right ventricular dysfunction assessment in guiding therapy.

The effect of levosimendan on right ventricular function in patients with heart dysfunction: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Yaoshi Hu et al.

Summary: This study systematically evaluated the impact of Levosimendan on right heart systolic function in patients with heart dysfunction. The results indicated that Levosimendan significantly improved right heart systolic function and decreased pulmonary arterial pressure in these patients.

Sex-based differences in clinical outcomes and resource utilization of type 2 myocardial infarction

Robert W. Ariss et al.

Summary: This study found that among hospitalizations for type 2 myocardial infarction (T2MI), females had lower in-hospital mortality, shorter length of stay, lower hospital costs, and higher rates of discharge to nursing facilities compared to males. The clinical significance of these differences, although statistically significant, remains unknown and requires further investigation.

Right ventricular myocardial infarction: pathophysiology, clinical implications and management

Giuseppe Femia et al.

Summary: Right ventricular myocardial infarction (RVMI) is a complication from acute occlusion of dominant right coronary artery or left anterior descending artery, associated with high rates of in-hospital morbidity and mortality. Early identification of clinical signs, prompt resuscitation, and reperfusion therapy are crucial in managing this condition.
