Exact solutions of an asymmetric double well potential

Guo-Hua Sun et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the analytical solutions of an asymmetric double well potential and finds that they can be represented as a triconfluent Heun function. The results show that the wave functions are affected by the potential parameters, shrinking towards the origin as a increases, moving away from the origin and towards the left as b increases for given a and c. Moreover, when c increases for given a and b, they exhibit similar properties as when a increases.

Effects of magnetic, electric, and intense laser fields on the optical properties of AlGaAs/GaAs quantum wells for terahertz photodetectors

Aishah AL-Naghmaish et al.

Summary: We investigated the changes in optical absorption coefficients and refractive index in single- and double-step GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells under the influence of magnetic, electric, and intense laser fields. Our findings reveal that increasing the intensity of external laser and electric fields causes redshift in optical absorption and refractive index, while increasing magnetic field results in blueshift. For double-step quantum wells, the transition energy between the ground and first excited state significantly decreases. The analysis suggests that intense laser, electric, and magnetic fields can be utilized to adjust and tune the total optical absorption coefficients and refractive indices, providing potential applications in terahertz technology.

Comparison of the nonlinear optical properties of asymmetrical and symmetrical quantum wells

Nguyen Dinh Hien

Summary: In this study, a comparison of the nonlinear optical properties of symmetrical parabolic (SP) and asymmetrical semi-parabolic (ASP) quantum-wells (QWs) is conducted, revealing the strong influence of incident optical intensity and confining frequency, as well as the sensitivity to relaxation time. The nonlinear component plays a crucial role in large incident optical intensity cases, and the overall optical properties of SPQW are found to be superior to those of ASPQW.

Effects of intense laser field and position dependent effective mass in Razavy quantum wells and quantum dots

E. Kasapoglu et al.

Summary: By using effective mass and parabolic band approximations, the effects of position-dependent effective mass and non-resonant intense laser field on absorption corrections and changes in refraction index coefficients for intersubband transition in Razavy-like quantum structures were investigated. The study extended to spherical quantum dots, showing how parameter combinations can lead to different structural configurations.
