Influence of Relative Humidity and Oxygen Concentration on Corrosion Behaviour of Copper in H2S-Containing Liquid Petroleum Gas

Xianqiang Li et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effects of relative humidity and oxygen concentration on copper corrosion in H2S-containing LPG. The results show that relative humidity has a pronounced influence on the corrosion grade of copper, while the presence of oxygen in dry H2S has limited effect on copper corrosion. The analysis of different corrosion products implies that different corrosion behaviors and mechanisms are dependent on the presence or absence of water vapor.

Corrosion Behavior of Copper Exposed in Marine Tropical Atmosphere in Rapa Nui (Easter Island) Chile 20 Years after MICAT

Rosa Vera et al.

Summary: This study reported on the atmospheric corrosion of copper on a tropical island in the South-Central Pacific Ocean and compared it with a similar study conducted 20 years earlier. The results showed that the corrosion of copper has increased slightly over time, despite the increase in contaminants associated with population growth and tourism on the island.

Atmospheric corrosion of silver, copper and nickel exposed to hydrogen sulphide: a multi-analytical investigation approach

J. Becker et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of two concentrations of H2S on the atmospheric corrosion of pure Ag, Cu, and Ni. The corrosion products were analyzed using various techniques such as SEM/EDX, Raman spectroscopy, XPS, and XRD. Different corrosion products were identified based on the characterization methods, providing a better understanding of the impact of H2S on the atmospheric corrosion of these metals. The possible mechanisms involved in the formation of these corrosion products were also discussed in this study.

Sargassum seaweed health menace in the Caribbean: clinical characteristics of a population exposed to hydrogen sulfide during the 2018 massive stranding

Dabor Resiere et al.

Summary: The study revealed that exposure to toxic gases released from decomposing sargassum seaweed can cause neurological, digestive, and respiratory disorders. Patients living in massive stranding areas may be exposed to hydrogen sulfide levels exceeding 5 ppm for up to 50 days per year.

The nature of the copper sulfide film grown on copper in aqueous sulfide and chloride solutions

Mengnan Guo et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the growth of copper sulfide films is controlled by the supply of SH- from the solution, and the morphology of the film depends on the type and concentration of anions present in the solution.

Corrosion behavior of copper in extremely harsh marine atmosphere in Nansha Islands, China

Xiao Lu et al.

Summary: The research showed that the average corrosion rate of pure copper exposed to the atmosphere of Nansha Islands was approximately 7.85 μm/a for one year, with significant differences in the structure and properties of the corrosion product layer formed on the front and back sides of the exposed sample.
