Supercritical fluid technology-an eco-friendly approach for resource recovery from e-waste and plastic waste: A review

Amrita Preetam et al.

Summary: The rapid development of technology has resulted in increased production and consumption of electronic and plastic products, leading to a significant generation of e-waste and plastic waste. These wastes pose a threat to the environment and human health due to their informal recycling and improper disposal. However, they also offer opportunities for metal recovery and the generation of valuable products. Supercritical fluid technology provides an attractive alternative for the sustainable management of e-waste and plastic waste, as well as resource recovery.

Potential and current practices of recycling waste printed circuit boards: A review of the recent progress in pyrometallurgy

Fariborz Faraji et al.

Summary: With the increasing amount of e-waste worldwide, the development of viable recycling methods has become an urgent issue. Pyrometallurgy, with its ability to process waste independent of its composition, offers a promising solution. This study discusses the principles of pyrometallurgical methods for recycling waste printed circuit boards (WPCBs) and reviews different unit operations of thermochemical pretreatment. It also explains the smelting processes for metal recovery, alternative methods for polymer and ceramic recovery, and evaluates emission control techniques and potential for energy recovery.
