Hydroxy Selenomethionine Alleviates Hepatic Lipid Metabolism Disorder of Pigs Induced by Dietary Oxidative Stress via Relieving the Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress

Jinzhong Jing et al.

Summary: This study found that dietary oxidative stress can lead to hepatic lipid metabolism disorder, but dietary supplementation with hydroxy selenomethionine partially alleviates this negative impact. The supplementation restores antioxidant capacity, mitigates endoplasmic reticulum stress, and regulates selenotranscriptome to resist hepatic lipid metabolism disorders.

Selenoprotein M Promotes Hypothalamic Leptin Signaling and Thioredoxin Antioxidant Activity

Ting Gong et al.

Summary: SELENOM is a positive regulator of leptin signaling and thioredoxin antioxidant activity in the hypothalamus. Deficiency of SELENOM impairs downstream STAT3 phosphorylation and cytosolic calcium responses evoked by leptin treatment.

The critical role of redox regulation of PTEN and peroxiredoxin III in alcoholic fatty liver

Ying Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the roles of peroxiredoxin III and redox regulation of phosphatase and tension homolog deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN) in alcoholic fatty liver disease. It found that alcohol-induced mitochondrial oxidative stress contributes to reversible oxidation of PTEN, leading to hyperactivation of Akt and MAPK with elevated levels of lipogenesis regulators. Peroxiredoxin III in mitochondria was found to have antagonistic effects on lipogenesis by removing ROS, highlighting the crucial roles of redox regulation of PTEN and peroxiredoxin III in the development of AFLD.

The dynamic mechanism of 4E-BP1 recognition and phosphorylation by mTORC1

Raphael Boehm et al.

Summary: The study reveals that mTORC1 achieves hierarchical phosphorylation of 4E-BP1 through specific interactions, facilitating efficient activation of translation. Furthermore, mTORC1 is capable of recognizing both free and eIF4E-bound 4E-BP1, enabling rapid phosphorylation of the entire 4E-BP1 pool.
