Integrating whole-genome sequencing with multi-omic data reveals the impact of structural variants on gene regulation in the human brain

Ricardo A. Vialle et al.

Summary: Scientists discovered over 170,000 structural variants through genomic analysis, and found that these variants are related to brain function and disease risk. Further analysis showed that over 3,200 structural variants are associated with molecular features such as histone modifications and gene expression.

Genome-Wide Analysis Identifies Candidate Genes Encoding Feather Color in Ducks

Qixin Guo et al.

Summary: Comparative population genomics and genome-wide association studies have provided opportunities for the discovery of detectable signals within the human-driven genome. This study identified candidate and potential SNPs associated with four plumage colors in ducks using GWAS. The results showed that major genomic regions associated with white, spotted, and black feathers overlapped with their candidate selection regions. Additionally, functional candidate genes MITF and EDNRB2 were found to contribute to white and black plumage.

Positive selection of skeleton-related genes during duck domestication revealed by whole genome sequencing

Tao Zhu et al.

Summary: Domestication of ducks has led to significant phenotypic, genetic, and physiological differences compared to wild ancestors. Study of genomic and transcriptomic data has revealed that genes related to skeletal development were strongly selected during domestication, resulting in changes in skeletal systems and affecting digestive, immune, and metabolic functions.
