Intraoperative fluid balance and cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury: a multicenter prospective study

Henrique Palomba et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between restrictive fluid balance (RFB) and liberal fluid balance (LFB) during on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and the postoperative outcomes. The study found that patients with LFB had similar rates of cardiac-surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI) and ICU length of stay (ICU-LOS) compared to patients with RFB. However, patients with LFB had higher in-hospital mortality, cardiovascular complications, and hospital length of stay (H-LOS).

Feasibility assessment of transfer functions describing biomechanics of the human lower limb during the gait cycle

Summary: The study confirmed the feasibility and competitiveness of using transfer functions for predicting surface electromyography of lower limb muscles, showing comparable predictive accuracy to long short-term memory models. The results indicate potential applications in designing novel prostheses and competing with mainstream models.
