Summary: Invasive pink salmon have been present in Norwegian waters in low numbers since around 1960, but their numbers drastically increased in 2017, possibly due to changes in the marine growth environment. The salmon showed declining growth shortly after entering the sea, followed by faster growth in late summer and autumn, and slow growth during winter. Body size at spawning was related to early and late growth stages, indicating the importance of these periods for growth and survival.
