Theoretical and Experimental Investigation about the Influence of Peltier Effect on the Temperature Loss and Performance Loss of Thermoelectric Generator

Xingjun Li et al.

Summary: Research has found that the Peltier effect can affect the temperature loss and performance of a thermoelectric generator (TEG). An experimental setup and analytical model were developed to investigate the influence of the Peltier effect on temperature loss at both sides of the TEG. The results showed that the cold side had a smaller temperature loss compared to the hot side, and the power loss had a linear relation with the product of temperature difference and temperature loss. The maximum loss in power, energy efficiency, and exergy efficiency occurred within a specific load range.
