F-doped TiO2(B)/reduced graphene for enhanced capacitive lithium-ion storage

Ziwang Zhou et al.

Summary: A composite of F-doped TiO2(B) and reduced graphene oxide (F-TiO2(B)/rGO) was successfully synthesized via a one-step hydrothermal route. The introduction of F ions in the synthetic process led to the uniform dispersion of TiO2(B) on rGO nanosheets and improved the conductivity of the materials. The composite exhibited a large capacity of 249.4 mA h g(-1) at 0.2 A/g and a capacity retention of 96% after 500 cycles at a high current density of 2 A/g.

Light-Induced Agglomeration of Single-Atom Platinum in Photocatalysis

Nikita Denisov et al.

Summary: This paper describes the photoinduced destabilization of Pt single atoms (SAs) on the surface of titanium dioxide (TiO2), a benchmark photocatalyst. The SAs agglomerate into clusters and nanoparticles under illumination in aqueous solutions. The kinetics of this process depend on the presence of sacrificial hole scavengers and the intensity of light used. Despite the aggregation and reduction of the SAs, the overall photocatalytic hydrogen evolution remains largely unaffected.

Visible Light-Driven N-F-Codoped TiO2 for Photocatalysts as Potential Application to Wastewater Treatment

Toan Minh Pham et al.

Summary: N-F codoped TiO2 materials were prepared by a hydrothermal method without the need for capping agents or heat treatment. It was found that N3- ions were doped interstitially in the TiO2 lattice and F- ions were adsorbed on the TiO2 surface. The introduction of N and F into the TiO2 lattice significantly reduced the band gap and extended the light absorption ability, leading to improved photocatalytic activity.

Optimized Pt Single Atom Harvesting on TiO2 Nanotubes-Towards a Most Efficient Photocatalyst

Zhenni Wu et al.

Summary: Anodic TiO2 nanotubes are shown to have excellent properties for harvesting Pt single atoms from highly dilute solutions. The tube walls provide suitable trapping sites for Pt SAs, and a high activity for photocatalytic H-2 generation can be achieved by immersing the nanotubes in a low concentration Pt solution. Overall, these findings demonstrate the potential of anodic TiO2 nanotubes for efficient Pt extraction and recovery, leading to highly active photocatalysts.

Design and synthesis of TiO2/C nanosheets with a directional cascade carrier transfer

Si-Ming Wu et al.

Summary: Directed transfer of carriers in semiconductors by structural design is challenging but important. In this study, TiO2 nanosheets with interlayered sp(2) carbon and titanium vacancies were obtained, and the directed transfer of carriers from the excited position to Ti-vacancies to interlayered carbon was observed. This greatly increased the charge transport efficiency and resulted in excellent photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical activity, as well as significant lithium/sodium ion storage performance. Theoretical calculations further revealed the mechanism of spatial inside-out cascade electron transfer.
