Bimetal Cu and Fe modified g-C3N4 sheets grown on carbon skeleton for efficient and selective photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to CO

Songyuan Bian et al.

Summary: Excessive consumption of fossil fuels leads to resource shortages and the greenhouse effect, and photocatalytic technology for CO2 conversion to fuel has gained extensive attention as a solution. This work synthesized Cu and Fe bimetallic modified g-C3N4 sheets grown on carbonized pomelo peels (Cu/Fe-CNC) using CVD method for photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to CO. The modification by Cu and Fe bimetallic has enhanced charge carrier transfer and separation efficiency, increased surface reaction sites, and significantly improved CO yield. Cu/Fe-CNC achieved 100% CO2 reduction to CO in the photocatalytic system and exhibited excellent stability in 5 cycle experiments. This work assists in developing high active g-C3N4-based photocatalysts for efficient and selective CO2 to CO reduction from a new perspective.

Activation of peroxymonosulfate by single-atom Fe-g-C3N4 catalysts for high efficiency degradation of tetracycline via nonradical pathways: Role of high-valent iron-oxo species and Fe-Nx sites

Xiaoming Peng et al.

Summary: A Fenton-like catalyst was prepared using isolated Fe single-atom and Fe clusters anchored onto a g-C3N4 framework for the heterogeneous activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) to degrade tetracycline (TC). The single Fe atoms served as active sites with optimal binding energy for PMS activation, leading to the production of high-valent iron-oxo species and single oxygen-dominated nonradical processes causing TC degradation. This study demonstrates the superior catalytic activity of single Fe atoms compared to Fe clusters in the activation of PMS for TC degradation.

Summary: A novel strategy was reported to prepare an Fe-SAC with all Fe atoms anchored on the surface of carbon nanospheres, showing an extraordinary UE of 80% for ORR. The Fe migration across the silica shell inhibits Fe aggregation and allows Fe atoms to anchor on the surface, leading to excellent ORR activity at low Fe content.

Preparation of sodium and boron co-doped graphitic carbon nitride for the enhanced production of H2O2 via two-electron oxygen reduction and the degradation of 2,4-DCP via photocatalytic oxidation coupled with Fenton oxidation

Yanyang Chu et al.

Summary: Sodium and boron co-doped graphitic carbon nitride (NaB-CN) was prepared and found to enhance the photocatalytic performance for H2O2 production and 2,4-DCP degradation. The optimized NaB-CN showed a significantly higher H2O2 production rate under visible light irradiation, and interestingly, 2,4-DCP and its intermediates acted as electron donors to promote H2O2 production during the photocatalytic degradation process.
