Degradation of amoxicillin under a UV or visible light photocatalytic treatment process using Fe2O3/bentonite/TiO2: Performance, kinetic, degradation pathway, energy consumption, and toxicology studies

Summary: This study investigates the degradation of amoxicillin (AMX) using a Fe2O3/bentonite/TiO2 (Fe2O3/B/TiO2) nanocomposite under visible LED light and UV irradiation. It was found that with an AMX concentration of 25 mg/L, a pH of 5, and a catalyst dosage of 0.75 gr/L, 100% degradation of the contaminant can be achieved under UV light for 60 min, while it takes 90 min under visible light to achieve a removal percentage of 98.8%. The technology can also convert nonbiodegradable effluent into a biodegradable form.

Facile synthesis of Fe3O4/ZnO/GO photocatalysts for decolorization of acid blue 113 under solar, visible and UV lights

The synthesized catalyst maintained its efficiency after multiple recycling runs due to its magnetization. UV radiation for 50 minutes resulted in complete removal of the dye, while visible radiation achieved complete removal in 120 minutes.

Removal of Benzene and Toluene from Synthetic Wastewater by Adsorption onto Magnetic Zeolitic Imidazole Framework Nanocomposites

Summary: Researchers evaluated the potential of Fe3O4/zeolite imidazolate framework nanoparticles (Fe3O4@ZIF-8) for the adsorption of benzene and toluene. The study found that neutral pH was the best pH range for maximum removal. The Langmuir isotherm equation was suitable for describing the experimental information and had the highest adsorption capacity. Kinetic studies showed the suitability of PSO kinetics and the recyclability results were promising. The thermodynamic parameter changes confirmed the favorability and spontaneity of the studied process.

Summary: The study focused on investigating the photocatalytic degradation of Acid Red 37 under UV irradiation using TiO2, ZnO, and their mixtures with different weight ratios. The best photodegradation was achieved with a ratio of (3:1) (TiO2: ZnO) at pH 6.5 and a textile dye concentration of 1.0 x 10-4 mol/L. The system UV/TiO2/ZnO/(1.1-5.5)x10-3M NaIO4 showed the highest photocatalytic degradation efficiency with the lowest energy consumption.

Preparation of MgTi2O5 nanoparticles for sonophotocatalytic degradation of triphenylmethane dyes

Synthesis and sonophotocatalytic activities of ZnO\BiVO4\Co3O4 composites
