Coupled ferroelectric polarization in novelty Sill?n-Aurivillius BaBi4TiNbO11Cl material for photocatalysis

Shishi Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, novel Sillen-Aurivillius BaBi4TiNbO11Cl ferroelectric materials were successfully synthesized. The BaBi4TiNbO11Cl nanoplates with high crystallinity and fewer impurity phases showed significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity due to the promoted separation of photon-generated carriers. Additionally, the piezo-photo-catalytic performance of BaBi4TiNbO11Cl nanoplates was also assessed and found to be four times higher by the synergistic effect of visible light and ultrasonic excitations. This work provides insights into the differences in photocatalytic, piezocatalytic, and piezo-photocatalytic mechanisms for BaBi4TiNbO11Cl nanoplates and offers a reference for the development of efficient piezo-photocatalysts.

Flux synthesis of Bi2MO4Cl (M = Gd and Nd) nanosheets for high-efficiency photocatalytic oxygen evolution under visible light

Ni Han et al.

Summary: The Bi2MO4Cl (M = Gd and Nd) nanosheets were prepared for the first time using a molten salt flux method. The Bi2GdO4Cl nanosheets showed the highest photocatalytic activity for oxygen evolution and dye degradation, attributed to their large specific surface areas and abundant pores. The excellent charge carrier separation and transfer rates of the nanosheets led to their high photocatalytic performance. This work provides useful insights for the preparation of highly active bismuth-based oxyhalide nanosheets photocatalysts and the possibility of water splitting under visible light.
