Coherent Dynamics of a Single Mn-Doped Quantum Dot Revealed by Four-Wave Mixing Spectroscopy

Jacek Kasprzak et al.

Summary: The researchers studied the quantum coherence properties of a doped quantum dot system using four-wave mixing spectroscopy. They found that incorporating Mn2+ ions introduces a spin texture and results in six individual spectral lines in the optical spectra. The random flips of the Mn spin lead to a special type of spectral wandering.

Destructive Photon Echo Formation in Six-Wave Mixing Signals of a MoSe2 Monolayer

Thilo Hahn et al.

Summary: Monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenides exhibit strong excitonic optical response and when encapsulated with hexagonal boron nitride, they can achieve a purely homogeneously broadened exciton system. Ultrafast six-wave mixing spectroscopy on a MoSe2-based system revealed a novel destructive photon echo effect, which arises from destructive interference in successive repetitions of the heterodyning experiment.

Quantum Dot Molecule Devices with Optical Control of Charge Status and Electronic Control of Coupling

Frederik Bopp et al.

Summary: Tunnel-coupled pairs of optically active quantum dots-quantum dot molecules (QDMs) offer the possibility to combine excellent optical properties with two-spin singlet-triplet (S-T0) qubits and have extended coherence times. However, operation of the S-T0 qubits remains challenging under optimal conditions. In this study, an electric field tunable QDM system is presented, allowing for flexible control of inter-dot coupling, and enabling the control of few-spin qubits. This has potential applications for the generation of 2D photonic cluster states or quantum transduction between microwaves and photons.

Influence of local fields on the dynamics of four-wave mixing signals from 2D semiconductor systems

Thilo Hahn et al.

Summary: The physics of two-dimensional semiconductors has been revitalized with the discovery of transition metal dichalcogenides, where excitons dominate the optical response. Utilizing the Bloch equation model and analyzing four-wave mixing signals have allowed for the understanding of exciton coherence and polarization dynamics in these systems. It has been shown that the characteristics of nonlinear signals vary in time and spectrum when different numbers of pulses are used for excitation.

Phonon-assisted carrier tunneling with hyperfine-induced spin flip in coupled quantum dot systems

Pawel Karwat et al.

Summary: The rates of phonon-assisted hyperfine spin flips during electron and hole tunneling between quantum dots in a self-assembled quantum dot molecule were calculated. It was found that the hyperfine process dominates spin relaxation in magnetic fields up to a few teslas for electrons, and for holes this crossover occurs at lower field magnitudes. The interplay of two spin-flip mechanisms results in a minimum spin-flip probability that can be experimentally measured to test for the presence of substantial transverse hyperfine couplings in the valence band.

Bright Electrically Controllable Quantum-Dot-Molecule Devices Fabricated by In Situ Electron-Beam Lithography

Johannes Schall et al.

Summary: Self-organized semiconductor quantum dots are nearly ideal two-level systems with strong potential for applications in photonic quantum technologies. Coupled quantum dot systems, with increased functionality, can host ultra-stable singlet-triplet spin qubits for efficient spin-photon interfaces and for deterministic photonic 2D cluster-state generation. Advanced quantum dot molecule (QDM) devices show excellent single-photon emission properties, making them attractive building blocks for future photonic quantum networks.
