Thermomagnetic behavior of a semiconductor material heated by pulsed excitation based on the fourth-order MGT photothermal model

Ahmed E. Abouelregal et al.

Summary: This article proposes a photothermal model to study the thermo-magneto-mechanical properties of semiconductor materials. The model takes into account the optical heating through the semiconductor medium and uses a more reliable theoretical framework to describe the optical and heat transfer properties of these materials. Numerical calculations and analysis are used to investigate the effects of thermal parameters, electromagnetic fields, laser pulses, and thermoelectric coupling factors on the thermomagnetic behavior of the materials.

Unsteady elastic diffusion bending model for a Timoshenko beam on a Winkler foundation: unsteady elastic diffusion bending model for a Timoshenko beam on a Winkler foundation

A. Zemskov et al.

Summary: This study investigates the unsteady elastic diffusion vibration problem of an orthotropic Timoshenko beam subjected to a distributed transverse load on an elastic foundation. The Winkler model is used as the elastic foundation model. The formulation of the mathematical problem utilizes the system of Timoshenko beam bending equations considering diffusion. These equations are derived using the d'Alembert variational principle applied to the elastic diffusion continuum model. The resulting model accounts for the relaxation of diffusion fluxes. The solution to the problem is obtained by convolving Green's functions with functions defining unsteady distributed disturbances. The Laplace transform in time and the Fourier series expansion in the longitudinal coordinate are used to find the Green's functions. A calculation example for a beam with a rectangular section is provided, which determines the beam deflections and concentration increments under an impulsively applied distributed transverse load. Finally, the main conclusions regarding the coupling effect of the stress-strain state and mass transfer in the beam are presented.

Hall current effect in double poro-thermoelastic material with fractional-order Moore-Gibson-Thompson heat equation subjected to Eringen's nonlocal theory

Shishir Gupta et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the analysis of one-dimensional thermoelastic interaction in an infinite medium consisting of double poro-thermoelastic material with voids (DPTMWV) in the presence of Hall current. Using the fractional-order Moore-Gibson-Thompson (MGT) heat conduction equation and numerical inversions, the displacement, temperature, volume fractions, and stresses are determined and the effects of various parameters are visually presented.

Free vibration of self-powered nanoribbons subjected to thermal-mechanical-electrical fields based on a nonlocal strain gradient theory

C. Li et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the dynamic behaviors of a piezoelectric nanoribbon in thermal-mechanical-electrical fields, which is utilized as a self-powered component in medical nanorobots. Both nonlocal and strain gradient effects are considered. The governing equations and boundary conditions are derived based on the theoretical constitutive relations and nonlocal strain gradient piezoelectric equations. The differential quadrature method is used for numerical solutions, and the influences of internal characteristic scales and external physical parameters on dynamic behaviors are discussed.

Transient responses to an infinite solid with a spherical cavity according to the MGT thermo-diffusion model with fractional derivatives without nonsingular kernels

Ahmed E. Abouelregal et al.

Summary: The main objective of this paper is to investigate the coupling mechanism between heat transfer and diffusion in thermoelastic materials. A new thermal diffusion model is derived to allow waves to propagate at limited speeds, in contrast to traditional thermodiffusion models. The study shows that the improved fractional operator has a considerable impact on the dynamics of various research fields.

Analysis of a Transversely Isotropic Annular Circular Cylinder Immersed in a Magnetic Field Using the Moore-Gibson-Thompson Thermoelastic Model and Generalized Ohm's Law

Osama Moaaz et al.

Summary: The main objective of this study is to investigate the homogeneous thermoelastic interactions in an isotropic hollow thin cylinder immersed in an electric-magnetic field. The linear Moore-Gibson-Thompson theory of thermoelasticity is used, with the inclusion of the generalized Ohm's law. The MGT system of thermoelastic equations for the new model is developed by incorporating a relaxation period in the Green-Naghdi type III framework. The theoretical results are computationally analyzed for a transversely isotropic material using the Honig and Hirdes approach, and a comparison of findings based on different thermoelastic theories is provided, along with a discussion on the impact of the applied electromagnetic field.

Nonlinear in-plane thermal buckling of rotationally restrained functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced composite shallow arches under uniform radial loading

Cheng Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the nonlinear in-plane instability of functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) shallow circular arches with rotational constraints subjected to a uniform radial load in a thermal environment. By assuming arches with thickness-graded material properties and considering four different distribution patterns of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), the arch displacement field is evaluated using the classical arch theory and Donnell's shallow shell theory assumptions. Analytical solutions for buckling equilibrium equations and buckling loads are obtained using the principle of virtual work. Parametric studies are conducted to demonstrate the effects of temperature variations, material parameters, geometric parameters, and elastic constraints on the stability of the arch. The results show that increasing the volume fraction of CNTs and distributing them away from the neutral axis significantly enhance the bending stiffness of the arch. Additionally, the pretension and initial displacement caused by the temperature field have significant effects on the buckling behavior.

Size-dependent buckling analysis of nanobeams resting on two-parameter elastic foundation through stress-driven nonlocal elasticity model

Hossein Darban et al.

Summary: This study investigates the instability of nanobeams rested on two-parameter elastic foundations using the Bernoulli-Euler beam theory and stress-driven nonlocal elasticity model. Incorporating size-dependency into formulation, results show excellent agreement with existing literature and provide new insights into buckling loads of nanobeams on different foundations like Winkler and Pasternak. The nonlocal elasticity problem in a bounded domain is well-posed and inconsistencies within the Eringen nonlocal theory are addressed.
