Predicting H2S emission from gravity sewer using an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system

R. Salehi et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop a predictive model to estimate hydrogen sulfide (H2S) emission from gravity sewers using two different adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) models. Results showed that the ANFIS-GP model, with fewer rules and parameters, outperformed the ANFIS-SC model in forecasting H2S emission.

Fouling characteristics and cleaning approach of ultrafiltration membrane during xylose reductase separation

Santhana Krishnan et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the separation of xylose reductase (XR) enzyme using a cross-flow ultrafiltration (UF) membrane and investigates the effect of operating parameters and membrane cleaning techniques on the separation performance. The research findings indicate that increasing transmembrane pressure improves the separation efficiency but also leads to fouling and polarization. On the other hand, increasing cross-flow velocity is more effective in fouling control. Moreover, cleaning the membrane surface with an alkaline solution containing 0.1 M sodium hydroxide effectively removes foulants and increases flux recovery.
