Summary: A reconfiguration methodology based on a hybrid optimization algorithm has been proposed to minimize power losses and maintain voltage levels in power systems. The combination of genetic algorithm and improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is more effective in solving optimization problems. By applying this methodology, real power loss was reduced significantly in the IEEE-30 bus test system with distributed generators.
