Hazardous Waste Advanced Management in a Selected Region of Poland

Przydatek Grzegorz et al.

Summary: This article presents a study on hazardous waste management in the Malopolskie region of Poland. The study analyzed the data from 2016 to 2018 and found that a significant amount of hazardous waste was produced in 2016, but only a small portion of it was disposed of. The study also examined different types of hazardous waste and discovered that the majority of the waste came from generation, while there was a significant increase in waste recovered from facilities.

Long-Term Petroleum Hydrocarbons Pollution after a Coastal Oil Spill

Weijun Guo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the long-term status of petroleum hydrocarbons in both seawater and sediment contaminated by the oil spill in Dalian New Port since 2010. While seawater recovers relatively quickly within two years, oil contamination persists in coastal sediments for several years. Sediments serve as long-term reservoirs for residual oils due to their slow degradation and low mobility. Erosion of sediments into the water column during storms leads to a sudden increase in hydrocarbons. The cumulative effects of hydrodynamic transport and ongoing industrial emissions result in a spatial shift of hot spots with high petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations.

People's Response to Potential Natural Hazard-Triggered Technological Threats after a Sudden-Onset Earthquake in Indonesia

Fatma Lestari et al.

Summary: Contrary to existing literature, the study found that higher risk perception is not associated with evacuation behavior, and immediate evacuation is not necessarily related to foreseeing cascading sequential consequences. Relevant factors for evacuation behavior include information access, worry about the possibility of a tsunami, and knowledge of groups and programs related to disaster risk reduction.

The Impact of Industrialization, Trade Openness, Financial Development, and Energy Consumption on Economic Growth in Indonesia

Khalid Eltayeb Elfaki et al.

Summary: The study reveals that industrialization, energy consumption, and financial development have a positive impact on economic growth in Indonesia in the long run, while financial development (measured by money supply) and trade openness have a negative effect. Industrialization and financial development are key factors for sustained long-run economic growth in Indonesia.
