Magnetic Energy Losses and Temperature Control System for Giant Magnetostrictive Transducer

Yafang Li et al.

Summary: The giant magnetostrictive transducer (GMT) has a wide range of applications in precision-fluid-control fields in ultra-precision machining. This study introduces a magnetic-energy-losses method for high frequency GMT, and designs a temperature-stable control system for improved energy transmission and heat dissipation. The study also presents an analysis of the temperature rise characteristics of the transducer based on loss-separation theory and experimental data.

Energy harvesting using a magnetostrictive transducer based on switching control

An Li et al.

Summary: In this work, a switching control energy harvesting method using magnetostrictive materials is proposed, which enables large-scale kinetic to electrical energy conversion. The method combines a magnetostrictive material, an electric circuit, and an electronic switch. Numerical simulations were conducted to optimize the parameters, and experimental measurements validated the harvesting performance using a 3.75 m vibrated cantilever truss structure. The proposed method achieved an electrical energy of approximately 45μJ in 20.0 s, which is seven times more than that of the conventional passive method.

Design of underwater magnetostrictive longitudinal-type transducers with circuit model considering eddy currents and multi-rod structure

Nengtong Zhao et al.

Summary: In this paper, an electro-magneto-mechanical multi-field coupling model is established to guide the design of UMLT. The model fully considers the eddy current effect, multi-GMM rod structure, and other factors. The proposed model is validated through measurement experiments and found to be more effective and accurate than the conventional model. It provides a guideline for the design and analysis of UMLT.

Micro-displacement amplifier of giant magnetostrictive actuator using flexure hinges

Liu Xu Hui et al.

Summary: This study aims at addressing the issue of small displacement of a giant magnetostrictive actuator (GMA) under special working conditions by designing a lever flexure hinge micro-displacement amplification mechanism. The rationality of the flexure hinge is verified through theoretical calculations and finite element analysis. Experimental results show that the designed flexure hinge amplification mechanism can significantly increase the output micro-displacement of the GMA, providing potential application opportunities for the actuator.
