Novel CMOS-based multi-band terahertz detector for passive imaging

Summary: This study proposes an innovative method to solve the problems of excessive noise or high-power consumption in existing terahertz detectors. It uses the gate of an N-type metal oxide semiconductor as a matching impedance for a multi-band terahertz on-chip antenna. Experimental results show that the proposed detector has a noise equivalent power close to 1 pW (root Hz)(-1) under liquid nitrogen cooling, meeting the design requirements of passive terahertz focal plane imaging chips.

Security screening system based on terahertz-wave spectroscopic gas detection

Wideband Double-Polarized Array of Cold-Electron Bolometers for OLIMPO Balloon Telescope

Summary: In this article, a novel wideband 2-D array of cold-electron bolometers sensitive to both polarizations of the optical signal is proposed for the OLIMPO balloon telescope. Numerical analysis shows that a sparse array layout is the most promising choice, achieving high absorption efficiency, low noise, and meeting the instrument's bandwidth requirements. Different combinations of bolometer connections were considered to achieve better noise properties at the photon noise-limited level.
