Topology Assessment for Dual-Band Filters Based on Acoustic Wave Resonators

Lluis Acosta et al.

Summary: This work assesses three different approaches to the design of dual-band filters with single-ended input and output based on acoustic wave (AW) technology. It provides a synthesis view and comparison of the three structures, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages. The innovative double-ladder topology is proposed as an alternative to the straightforward option of connecting two standalone ladder filters in parallel. Overall, this work offers insights into the filter synthesis methodology and technology requirements behind each structure.

Large-Range Spurious Mode Elimination for Wideband SAW Filters on LiNbO3/SiO2/Si. Platform by LiNbO3 Cut Angle Modulation

Huiping Xu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the suppression of spurious modes on the LN/SiO2/Si platform by modulating the cut angle of the LiNbO3 (LN) material. The results show that the LN/SiO2/Si platform has a wider Rayleigh elimination window (REW) compared to bulk LN, making it possible to achieve spurious-free wideband surface acoustic wave (SAW) filters.

A Miniaturized Acoustic Dual-Band Bandpass Filter using Thin-Film Lithium Niobate

Yansong Yang et al.

Summary: This work introduces a new design of an acoustic-only dual-band bandpass filter that operates beyond 6 GHz, utilizing the third-order antisymmetric Lamb wave mode in an 800 nm thick Z-cut lithium niobate thin film. By employing a fine-controlled regional thinning technique on the lithium niobate thin film, the filter demonstrates small in-band ripples and sharp roll-offs, with two contiguous transmission bands at 6.75 GHz and 7.35 GHz. The strong potential of this dual-band design for front-end applications is highlighted by its miniaturized footprint of 0.6 mm2.
