Eikonal approximation in celestial CFT

Leonardo Pipolo de Gioia et al.

Summary: We identify an eikonal regime in celestial CFT2 where massless 2-2 scattering is dominated by t-channel exchange. We derive a formula that resums exchanges of arbitrary integer spin to all orders in the coupling. The resulting eikonal phase resembles that in flat space with energy powers replaced by weight-shifting operators on the celestial sphere. We independently compute the celestial two-point function for a scalar in a shockwave background and find agreement with the prediction from the celestial eikonal formula for graviton exchange to leading order in the gravitational coupling.

Missing corner in the sky: massless three-point celestial amplitudes

Chi-Ming Chang et al.

Summary: We compute three-point celestial amplitudes in Minkowski space for massless scalars, photons, gluons, and gravitons. The amplitudes were previously assumed to be zero because scattering amplitudes in the plane wave basis vanish for generic momenta due to momentum conservation. However, considering delta function for momentum conservation in the soft and colinear regions, non-zero celestial amplitudes are obtained through Mellin and shadow integrals. We find that the amplitudes take the form of correlators in two-dimensional conformal field theory, supporting the relation between soft spinning particles and conserved currents.

Carroll Symmetry, Dark Energy and Inflation

Summary: Carroll symmetry, arising from the limit of vanishing speed of light, is studied and constraints on the energy-momentum tensor are determined. The findings suggest that Carroll symmetry may be relevant for dark energy and inflation.

Celestial amplitudes as AdS-Witten diagrams

Eduardo Casali et al.

Summary: This paper explores a marginal deformation of the celestial CFT in Yang-Mills theory, which preserves 2D conformal invariance while breaking spacetime translation and scale invariance. The resulting MHV celestial amplitudes are found to be finite in the presence of soft and collinear divergences and isolated poles. These amplitudes can be rewritten in terms of AdS(3)-Witten contact diagrams, which evaluate to the well-known D-functions, establishing a direct connection between flat and AdS holography.

Scattering Amplitudes: Celestial and Carrollian

Arjun Bagchi et al.

Summary: Recent attempts at the construction of holography for asymptotically flat spacetime have taken two different routes, namely celestial holography and Carrollian CFT. Celestial holography has generated novel results in asymptotic symmetry and scattering amplitudes, while Carrollian CFT has been used to provide evidence for flat holography in lower dimensions. This study combines ideas from celestial holography and Carrollian CFT to show the potential of 3D Carrollian CFT in computing bulk scattering amplitudes for 4D flat space.

Carrollian Perspective on Celestial Holography

Laura Donnay et al.

Summary: In this paper, we demonstrate that a 3D sourced conformal Carrollian field theory possesses the appropriate kinematic properties to holographically describe gravity in 4D asymptotically flat spacetime. By relating Carrollian operators to celestial operators, the Ward identities of this theory are shown to reproduce those of the 2D celestial CFT, indicating a new set of interplays among gravity in asymptotically flat spacetime, sourced conformal Carrollian field theory, and celestial CFT.

Boosting to BMS

Arjun Bagchi et al.

Summary: In this paper, we demonstrate how BMS symmetries can be achieved by infinite boosts or degenerate linear transformations. By taking cues from the worldsheet theory of null strings, we show that boosting the system is equivalent to adding a current-current deformation term to the Hamiltonian. As the strength of this term reaches a critical value, the classical symmetry algebra flows from two copies of Virasoro to the BMS algebra. We also explore asymmetric transformations of CFT coordinates, leading to chiral theories in degenerate limits.

MHV graviton scattering amplitudes and current algebra on the celestial sphere

Shamik Banerjee et al.

Summary: The subleading terms in the OPE are determined by demanding that both sides of the OPE transform identically under a local symmetry algebra; positive helicity gravitons have null states under this local algebra, leading to differential equations for MHV amplitudes; an n point MHV amplitude satisfies two systems of (n - 2) linear first order PDEs corresponding to (n - 2) positive helicity gravitons.

(2,2) Scattering and the celestial torus

Alexander Atanasov et al.

Summary: The analytic continuation from Minkowski space to (2,2) split signature spacetime is a powerful tool for studying scattering amplitudes. Under this continuation, null infinity is represented as the product of a null interval and a celestial torus, with only one connected component. Spacelike and timelike infinity are periodic quotients of AdS(3), combining to form an S-3 represented as a toric fibration over the interval. Scattering states of scalars are organized into conformal primary wave functions and their descendants, giving the scattering problem a discrete character.
