Fermions in boundary conformal field theory: crossing symmetry and E-expansion

Christopher P. Herzog et al.

Summary: This paper uses the equations of motion and crossing symmetry to constrain the properties of interacting fermionic boundary conformal field theories. This combination is an efficient way to determine operator product expansion coefficients and anomalous dimensions in the epsilon expansion. Knowledge of the boundary and bulk spinor conformal blocks are necessary for this procedure, with the bulk spinor conformal blocks derived for the first time in this paper. The effects of different couplings in various dimensions are studied, and new anomalous dimensions for operators in these theories are computed.

Localized magnetic field in the O(N) model

Gabriel Cuomo et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the critical O(N) model under the influence of a localized external magnetic field. This model has the potential to be realized in quantum simulators and in certain liquid mixtures. We find that the external field triggers a defect Renormalization Group (RG) flow, resulting in a stable nontrivial defect Conformal Field Theory (DCFT) with g < 1 at long distances, in accordance with the g-theorem. Using the epsilon expansion and the large N limit, we make several predictions for the corresponding DCFT data. The analysis of the large N limit involves a new saddle point and recent advancements in AdS loop diagrams enable the study of fluctuations around it. Our results are consistent with Monte Carlo simulations and we propose several predictions that can be tested in the future.

Bootstrapping line defects with O(2) global symmetry

Aleix Gimenez-Grau et al.

Summary: In this study, numerical bootstrap and epsilon-expansion are used to investigate conformal line defects with O(2) global symmetry, yielding general and insightful results. Results indicate that for the monodromy line defect, numerical findings are in agreement with known analytic solutions, while for the localized magnetic field line defect, intriguing cusps are observed and explored.

The extraordinary boundary transition in the 3d O(N) model via conformal bootstrap

Jaychandran Padayasi et al.

Summary: This paper studies the critical behavior of the 3d classical O(N) model with a boundary. A new extraordinary-log boundary universality class is discovered and the critical value N-c is determined using numerical conformal bootstrap and semi-definite programming.

Line and surface defects for the free scalar field

Edoardo Lauria et al.

Summary: For a single free scalar field in d ≥ 2 dimensions, most unitary conformal defects are 'trivial' and do not have interesting dynamics, with exceptions being monodromy defects in d ≥ 4 and co-dimension three defects in d ≥ 5. It is shown that the n-point correlation functions of a conformal theory with a generalized free spectrum must be those of the generalized free theory as an intermediate result.

On analytic bootstrap for interface and boundary CFT

Parijat Dey et al.

Summary: Analytic bootstrap techniques are used to extract CFT data for systems with interfaces or boundaries, constrained further by applying equations of motion to boundary operator expansions. The method is general and illustrated in perturbative Wilson-Fisher theories. Constraints on OPE coefficients for interface CFT in 4 - E dimensions and computations for non-unitary phi(3)-theory in 6 - E dimensions with conformal boundaries/interfaces are presented.
