Webs of 3d N=2 dualities with D-type superpotentials

Antonio Amariti et al.

Summary: We study 3d N = 2 dualities arising from the compactification of 4d N = 1 Usp(2n) SQCD with two antisymmetric rank-two tensors and Dk+2-type superpotential, with odd k. The analysis is carried out by using field theory methods and by checking the various steps on the three sphere partition function. Most of the results are based on a conjectural confining duality that we do not prove but that fits consistently with the web of dualities that we obtain. Along the analysis we recover dualities already claimed in the literature and we propose new ones. The final picture that emerges fits with the general scheme worked out for ordinary SQCD and for adjoint SQCD with A(k)-type superpotentials.

On N =4 supersymmetry enhancements in three dimensions

Benjamin Assel et al.

Summary: We introduce a class of 3d theories consisting of strongly-coupled N = 4 systems coupled to N = 3 Chern-Simons gauge multiplets, which exhibit N = 4 enhancements when a peculiar condition on the Chern-Simons levels is met. We also show that some but not all of these N = 4 enhancements can be understood by considering M5-branes on a special class of Seifert manifolds. Our construction provides a large class of N = 4 theories which have not been studied previously.

Higgs branches of Argyres-Douglas theories as quiver varieties

Anindya Dey

Summary: We propose a general method for constructing 3dN=4 Lagrangians for the IR SCFTs that arise from the circle reduction of a large class of Argyres-Douglas theories. The resulting Lagrangian provides a realization of the Higgs branch of the 4d SCFT as a quiver variety, along with decoupled interacting SCFTs with empty Higgs branches. We focus on the examples of (A(p-N-1),A(N-1)) and D(p)(SU(N)) families.

Zero-form and one-form symmetries of the ABJ and related theories

Emanuele Beratto et al.

Summary: This study examines the zero-form and one-form global symmetries of the Aharony-Bergman-Jafferis (ABJ) and related theories with at least N = 6 supersymmetry in three dimensions. The study focuses on dualities between theories with orthogonal and symplectic gauge groups and those with unitary gauge groups, and maps the symmetries across these dualities.

Deconfining N=2 SCFTs or the art of brane bending

Inaki Garcia Etxebarria et al.

Summary: We introduce a systematic approach to construct N = 1 Lagrangians for a class of interacting N = 2 SCFTs. By analyzing the simplest case of placing branes at an orientifolded C-2/Z(2) singularity, we obtain Lagrangian descriptions for all the R-2,R-k theories. The Lagrangians arising from our brane construction manifestly exhibit the expected flavor symmetry group or its full-rank subgroup, allowing us to compute the full superconformal index of the N = 2 SCFTs.

Dualities from dualities: the sequential deconfinement technique

Lea E. Bottini et al.

Summary: This paper investigates whether a given infra-red duality between quantum field theories can be explained through other more elementary dualities. It focuses on theories with tensor matter and applies the idea of deconfinement, trading tensor matter for extra gauge nodes using elementary dualities. The paper discusses various examples in the context of 4d N = 1 supersymmetric theories related to elliptic hypergeometric integrals, including a new self-duality involving a quiver theory.

A 5d perspective on the compactifications of 6d SCFTs to 4d N=1 SCFTs

Evyatar Sabag et al.

Summary: This study revisits the construction of compactifying 6d SCFTs to 4d N=1 theories and explores it in detail from a 5d perspective using the box graph description of the extended Coulomb branch phases of 5d theories. This perspective may aid in understanding how to equivalently realize 4d N=1 models from geometric engineering in M-theory and recover various properties of the 4d theories from the 5d perspective.

S-confinements from deconfinements

Stephane Bajeot et al.

Summary: This study focuses on four dimensional N = 1 gauge theories that are S-confining and dual to a Wess-Zumino model. The researchers classify S-confining theories with simple gauge groups and prove all S-confining dualities in the list when matter fields transform in rank-1 and/or rank-2 representations. The strategy involves a sequence of deconfinements and re-confinements, with special attention given to the explicit superpotential at each step.

Dynamical consequences of 1-form symmetries and the exceptional Argyres-Douglas theories

Federico Carta et al.

Summary: Higher-form symmetries have been proven to be useful in constraining the dynamics of quantum field theories. In the context of Argyres-Douglas theories, we observe the invariance of 1-form symmetries under Higgs branch flow and their capture by the non-Higgsable sector. These observations lead us to propose mirror theories for AD theories of the (A(n), E-m) type, and we also discover several important results as by-products.

Summary: In this study, we apply the technique of sequential deconfinement to investigate the four-dimensional gauge theory with an antisymmetric field and fundamentals. Higgs branch, Coulomb branch, and Hall-Littlewood index

Monica Jinwoo Kang et al.

Summary: The Higgs branch of 4D N = 2 superconformal field theories can be analyzed using the Hilbert series or Hall-Littlewood index. This study presents several counterexamples to the conjecture that for class S theories corresponding to a genus-zero Riemann surface, the two methods yield identical results. The study also constructs 3D mirrors and analyzes their Coulomb branch Hilbert series to compute the Higgs branch Hilbert series. A further construction of a = c theories in class S using twisted punctures shows that their Hall-Littlewood index is different from the Hilbert series of the Higgs branch.

Flips, dualities and symmetry enhancements

Chiung Hwang et al.

Summary: In this study, various 4d N = 1 theories with IR global symmetry enhancement are presented. These models have USp(2N) gauge group, 8 fundamental particles, one antisymmetric chiral, and varying numbers of gauge singlets. By using superpotential deformations involving the singlets, the UV symmetry is broken leading to SCFTs with E-6, SO(10), SO(9), SO(8) and F-4 IR global symmetry. The patterns of symmetry enhancement are explained using two arguments by Razamat, Sela and Zafrir, one involving the study of relations satisfied by marginal operators and the other relying on the existence of self-duality frames.

Three dimensional mirror symmetry beyond ADE quivers and Argyres-Douglas theories

Anindya Dey

Summary: Mirror symmetry in three-dimensional gauge theories involving ADE quivers has been extensively studied, and this paper presents a systematic field theory prescription for constructing 3d mirror pairs beyond the ADE quiver gauge theories. The construction involves a generalization of S and T operations in the context of SL(2, Z) action on a 3d CFT with a U(1) 0-form global symmetry. Various non-ADE infinite families of mirror pairs can be obtained using this construction. Additionally, 3d N = 4 Lagrangians for 3d SCFTs are conjectured based on this construction.

Non-unitary TQFTs from 3D N=4 rank 0 SCFTs

Dongmin Gang et al.

Summary: A novel procedure is proposed to assign a pair of non-unitary topological quantum field theories to a specific category of superconformal field theories. The modular data of the non-unitary TQFTs are extracted from the supersymmetric partition functions in particular degenerate limits, leading to a lower bound on the round three-sphere free energy of T-rank 0. The bound is saturated by a minimal N=4 SCFT proposed by Gang-Yamazaki, with associated topological theories being the Lee-Yang TQFT.

5d and 4d SCFTs: canonical singularities, trinions and S-dualities

Cyril Closset et al.

Summary: Canonical hypersurface singularities in M-theory and Type IIB string theory lead to 5d and 4d superconformal field theories (SCFTs), respectively. This paper focuses on a specific class of 'trinion' singularities in Type IIB, which give rise to 4d N = 2 SCFTs known as Dpb(G)-trinions. Reducing these 4d and 5d SCFTs to 3d N = 4 theories helps determine their electric and magnetic quivers.
