Thermal correlators and bosonization dualities in large N Chern-Simons matter theories

Sudip Ghosh et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate 3-dimensional conformal field theories with U(N)(kappa) Chern-Simons gauge fields coupled to bosonic and fermionic matter fields transforming in the fundamental representation of the gauge group. We compute the thermal two-point correlation functions of the spin s = 0, s = 1, and s = 2 gauge invariant conformal primary operators in these CFTs in the 't Hooft large N limit and to all orders in the 't Hooft coupling lambda = N/kappa. These results contribute to the testing of the conjectured bosonization dualities in these theories at finite temperature.

Renormalization Group Flows on Line Defects

Gabriel Cuomo et al.

Summary: This article investigates line defects in conformal field theories and reveals that the flow on these defects is irreversible, accompanied by a decreasing entropy function. The generalization of the g theorem to line defects in arbitrary dimensions is demonstrated through a flow between Wilson loops in four dimensions.

Spin impurities, Wilson lines and semiclassics

Gabriel Cuomo et al.

Summary: This paper studies line defects with large quantum numbers in conformal field theories. It first considers spin impurities in a free scalar triplet and the Wilson-Fisher O(3) model and reveals a rich phase diagram. A new semiclassical approach is developed to obtain these results. For the Wilson-Fisher model, an alternative description is proposed to study large spin impurities. Additionally, the paper also investigates Wilson lines in large representations of N = 2 superconformal field theories.

The extraordinary boundary transition in the 3d O(N) model via conformal bootstrap

Jaychandran Padayasi et al.

Summary: This paper studies the critical behavior of the 3d classical O(N) model with a boundary. A new extraordinary-log boundary universality class is discovered and the critical value N-c is determined using numerical conformal bootstrap and semi-definite programming.

Line Operators in Chern-Simons-Matter Theories and Bosonization in Three Dimensions

Barak Gabai et al.

Summary: This paper studies Chern-Simons theories at large N with bosonic or fermionic matter in the fundamental representation. It classifies the conformal line operators along smooth paths and determines the spectrum of conformal dimensions and transverse spins of their boundary operators. The paper demonstrates that these line operators satisfy first-order chiral evolution equations and argues that this equation, along with the spectrum of boundary operators, uniquely determines the expectation values of these operators. The paper further shows that the line operators in the theories of bosons and fermions satisfy the same evolution equation and have the same spectrum of boundary operators.

Anyon scattering from lightcone Hamiltonian: the singlet channel

Barak Gabai et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the coupling between U(N) Chern-Simons theory and massive fundamental fermions in the lightcone Hamiltonian formalism. By focusing on the planar limit and using a consistent regularization scheme, we identify the necessary counter terms to restore relativistic invariance and formulate scattering theory with unambiguously defined asymptotic states. We determine the 2 -> 2 planar S-matrix element in the singlet channel by solving the Lippmann-Schwinger equation to all orders, confirming a previously conjectured result in the literature.

Anyonic correlation functions in Chern-Simons matter theories

Yatharth Gandhi et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel relation between the parity-even and -odd parts of a correlator is used to demonstrate that the three-point function of conserved or weakly broken currents in three-dimensional conformal field theory can be obtained from either the free fermion theory or the free boson theory. In the case of large N Chern-Simons matter theories, the correlator is expressed in terms of a coupling constant dependent anyonic phase factor, which is consistent with strong-weak duality. By varying the coupling constant, the CFT correlator nicely interpolates between the correlators in the free fermion theory and the free boson theory.

On thermal correlators and bosonization duality in Chern-Simons theories with massive fundamental matter

Amiya Mishra

Summary: In this study, we examined Chern-Simons theory coupled to massive fundamental matter in three spacetime dimensions at finite temperature in the large N limit. Thermal correlators for both fermionic and bosonic matter were calculated separately. The results were computed in the large N 't Hooft limit for arbitrary values of the 't Hooft coupling. Furthermore, computations of the four-point function of fundamental scalars in the bosonic theory were extended to finite temperature, and consistency checks with existing results were performed, showing agreement in different limiting cases and supporting the conjectured bosonization duality.

Boundary conformal field theory at large charge

Gabriel Cuomo et al.

Summary: In the study of operators with large internal charge in BCFTs with internal symmetries, a non-trivial relation between the scaling dimension of the lowest dimensional CFT and charged operators in BCFTs was found. Additionally, a superfluid effective field theory was constructed to systematically calculate the BCFT spectrum, and predictions from the EFT analysis were explicitly verified in specific examples. Furthermore, a systematic background field approach towards Ward identities in general boundary and defect conformal field theories was discussed, along with its relation to Noether's theorem in perturbative theories.

Constraining momentum space correlators using slightly broken higher spin symmetry

Sachin Jain et al.

Summary: This work presents momentum space Ward identities related to broken higher spin symmetry as an alternate approach to compute correlators of spinning operators in interacting theories. The authors use higher spin equations to obtain parity even and parity odd contributions to correlators involving spinning and scalar operators in a general kinematic regime, and match their results with existing literature when available. The interesting fact that higher spin equations can be used away from the conformal fixed point is illustrated by considering mass deformed free boson theory and solving for two-point functions of spinning operators using higher spin equations.

Higher spin 3-point functions in 3d CFT using spinor-helicity variables

Sachin Jain et al.

Summary: In this study, the spinor-helicity formalism is used to calculate 3-point functions involving scalar operators and spin-s conserved currents in general 3d CFTs. It is observed that the parity-even and parity-odd parts of a correlator are related in spinor-helicity variables. After converting spinor-helicity answers to momentum space, correlators involving spin-s currents can be expressed in terms of simple conformally invariant conserved structures, allowing for systematic understanding and separation of contact terms, particularly for the parity-odd case. Additionally, some of the correlators are reproduced using weight-shifting operators.

Momentum space parity-odd CFT 3-point functions

Sachin Jain et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the parity-odd sector of 3-point functions involving scalar operators and conserved currents in conformal field theories in momentum space. The researchers use momentum space conformal Ward identities and operators like spin-raising and weight-shifting operators to determine the form of these correlators. When dealing with divergences, they discuss regularization and renormalization techniques using appropriate counter-terms.
