Confinement/deconfinement transition in the D0-brane matrix model - A signature of M-theory?

Georg Bergner et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the confinement/deconfinement transition in the DO-brane matrix model and its deformation numerically through lattice Monte Carlo simulations. Our findings confirm the general expectations from the dual string/M-theory picture for strong coupling. Furthermore, we suggest that these models offer an ideal framework for studying the Schwarzschild black hole, M-theory, and the parameter region of the phase transition between type IIA superstring theory and M-theory. Additionally, a detailed study of M-theory using lattice Monte Carlo simulations of the DO-brane matrix model may be feasible with smaller computational resources than previously anticipated.

Non-perturbative phase structure of the bosonic BMN matrix model

Navdeep Singh Dhindsa et al.

Summary: We conducted an extensive study on the bosonic part of the BMN matrix model, exploring various phase transitions under different temperatures, deformation parameters, and numbers of colors. Through lattice computations, we observed a single first-order transition from a uniform phase to a gapped phase for all values of the deformation parameter. We also investigated the functional relationship between the critical temperature and the deformation parameter, revealing the smooth interpolation between the limits of the bosonic BFSS model and the gauged Gaussian model.

Nonperturbative test of the Maldacena-Milekhin conjecture for the BMN matrix model

Stratos Pateloudis et al.

Summary: We tested the conjecture proposed by Maldacena and Milekhin for the ungauged version of the Berenstein-Maldacena-Nastase (BMN) matrix model using lattice Monte Carlo simulation. The numerical results confirmed the perturbative and gravity results in the limit of large and small flux parameter, respectively, and were consistent with the conjecture.

Partial deconfinement at strong coupling on the lattice

Hiromasa Watanabe et al.

Summary: By using lattice Monte Carlo simulations, evidence for partial deconfinement - the deconfinement of a SU(M) subgroup of the SU(N) gauge group - has been provided. Concrete examples are taken using matrix models and observing the M x M submatrices deconfine after appropriately fixing the gauge, which gives direct evidence for partial deconfinement at strong coupling. Applications to QCD and holography are discussed.

Bulk geometry in gauge/gravity duality and color degrees of freedom

Masanori Hanada

Summary: This paper reveals that the previous notion that the ground-state wave function delocalizes at large N and conflicts with the locality of bulk geometry is incorrect. By clarifying the meaning of matrix diagonalization in Yang-Mills theory, it opens up the possibility of characterizing bulk geometry through the color degrees of freedom in Yang-Mills theory all the way to the center of the bulk.
