Prediction of Recurrent Ischemic Stroke Using Registry Data and Machine Learning Methods: The Erlangen Stroke Registry

Asmir Vodencarevic et al.

Summary: This study developed accurate individual risk prediction models for recurrent ischemic stroke based on data easily obtained from patients at home. These models can be applied in a home setting to provide an initial risk assessment and identify high-risk patients early.

Relationship Between Acylcarnitine and the Risk of Retinopathy in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Wan-Ying Wang et al.

Summary: This study found a negative correlation between C2, C14DC, C16, C18:1OH, and C18:1 and the risk of retinopathy in patients with T2DM, and they may be new predictors and diagnostic markers of DR.

EASY-APP: An artificial intelligence model and application for early and easy prediction of severity in acute pancreatitis

Balazs Kui et al.

Summary: Acute pancreatitis is a potentially severe inflammation of the pancreas. Early identification of high-risk patients is crucial for preventing organ failure and death. This study developed a prediction model using machine learning, which showed good performance in predicting severity. The study also developed a user-friendly web application for clinicians. The most influential factors for prediction were respiratory rate, body temperature, abdominal muscular reflex, gender, age, and glucose level.

Current understanding of the molecular and cellular pathology of diabetic retinopathy

David A. Antonetti et al.

Summary: Diabetes mellitus has detrimental effects on the signaling interactions of retinal cells, leading to vascular abnormalities and impaired neuronal function, but novel therapies have shown promise in improving visual outcomes. Research on diabetic retinopathy has uncovered potential new therapeutic avenues for treating this debilitating disease.
