Comprehensive evaluation of 20 pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) cultivars in China

Chen Yan-hui et al.

Summary: Recent investigations on pomegranate products have increased and drawn consumers' attention, promoting the development of the pomegranate industry worldwide. Little information on Chinese pomegranates was available, leading to a study on morphological and chemical characterizations of fruits and arils from 20 pomegranate cultivars in six regions of China. Promising cultivars were identified, and the study also revealed the influence of cultivation locations on fruit traits.

Reference quality genome sequence of Indian pomegranate cv. 'Bhagawa' (Punica granatum L.)

P. Roopa Sowjanya et al.

Summary: This study sequenced and assembled the genome of pomegranate using next-generation sequencing technologies and obtained a high-quality reference genome assembly for the 'Bhagawa' cultivar. The assembly covered a large portion of the estimated pomegranate genome size and identified numerous genes and miRNA copies, providing valuable genomic resources for future pomegranate improvement.

The pan-genome of the cultivated soybean (PanSoy) reveals an extraordinarily conserved gene content

Davoud Torkamaneh et al.

Summary: The construction of a pan-genome for cultivated soybean reveals a significant amount of novel genes, with over 90.6% of genes in the core genome shared by 99% of accessions. The PanSoy represents a major advancement in capturing the extent of genetic variation in cultivated soybean, serving as a valuable resource for soybean genomics research and breeding.
