Fruit economic characteristics and yields of 40 superior Camellia oleifera Abel plants in the low-hot valley area of Guizhou Province, China

Lu Yang et al.

Summary: This study assessed the economic characteristics and yields of 40 superior Camellia oleifera Abel plants using principal component analysis. The results showed positive correlations between oil yield and dry seed rate and kernel rate, as well as a negative correlation with 100-seed weight. Several traits, including fruit diameter, fruit height, kernel yield, oleic acid, and total unsaturated fatty acid, exhibited strong genetic stability. The comprehensive scores were consistent with the ranking of actual yields.

Bacterial Mitigation of Drought Stress in Plants: Current Perspectives and Future Challenges

Divjot Kour et al.

Summary: Climate change is leading to abiotic stress conditions, with drought being the most destructive stress affecting crop production and global food security. Plant-microbe interactions have been explored as a way to enhance plant adaptability to drought stress. Stress-adaptive microbes have been identified, which help plants cope with drought and promote growth through various mechanisms. These stress-adaptive plant growth promoting microbes are considered promising candidates for alleviating drought stress and providing maximum benefits to plants.

Siderophores, a potential phosphate solubilizer from the endophyte Streptomyces sp. CoT10, improved phosphorus mobilization for host plant growth and rhizosphere modulation

Kunpeng Cui et al.

Summary: In this study, a Streptomyces sp. CoT10 was screened and identified from Camellia oleifera endophytes, and it exhibited high phosphorus mobilization capacity and siderophore production. CoT10 inoculation improved soil phosphorus content, plant growth, and microbial diversity in C. oleifera rhizosphere soil, indicating its potential application in iron-rich soil for sustainable plant-related industries development.

The osmolyte-producing endophyte Streptomyces albidoflavus OsiLf-2 induces drought and salt tolerance in rice via a multi-level mechanism

Shuqi Niu et al.

Summary: The endophytic actinomycete Streptomyces albidoflavus OsiLf-2, which is moderately salt-tolerant, can enhance the osmotic-adjustment ability of rice host plants under drought and salt conditions. This is achieved by increasing the production of osmolytes, improving stress responses at physiological, biochemical, and genetic levels, and ultimately increasing rice yields. The use of endophytic actinomycetes shows promise as a biotechnological approach for developing stress-tolerant plants.
