Summary: The study focused on the impact of aPDT with curcumin and silver nanoparticles as photosensitizers on planktonic and biofilm forms of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The results indicated that the combination of curcumin and AgNPs in aPDT reduced the number of bacteria and did not show significant photocytotoxic effects on human normal fibroblast cells, while decreasing glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity. The ROS production in curcumin plus AgNPs aPDT was higher than the control group, suggesting potential novel strategies in treating multi-drug-resistant bacteria like P. aeruginosa.
