Effect of ginsenosides on microbial community and enzyme activity in continuous cropping soil of ginseng

Investigating the Responses of Microbial Communities to Banana Fusarium Wilt in Suppressive and Conducive Soils Based on Soil Particle-Size Differentiation

Summary: The microbiota in soil plays a crucial role in inhibiting plant pathogens. However, the relationship between soil particles and local microbial communities has not been fully confirmed. This study examined the differences in microbial communities between suppressive and conducive soils using soil particle-size fractions. The results showed notable differences in composition, traits, and physiochemical parameters between the two soil types. The taxonomic composition of microbial communities also varied significantly. Structural equation modeling revealed complex associations between soil particles, physiochemical parameters, microbial communities, and soil enzyme activities, which influenced soil suppressiveness. These findings highlight the importance of resident microbial communities in specific soil particles for the development of soil suppressiveness.

Prediction of soil carbon and nitrogen contents using visible and near infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy in varying salt-affected soils in Sine Saloum (Senegal)

Summary: This study used visible and near infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy to predict soil organic carbon, nitrogen contents, and electrical conductivity in variably salt-affected topsoils of the Sine Saloum region in Senegal. The results showed that the spectroscopy was able to accurately discriminate different soil salinity levels, and the best predictions were achieved using global and local calibration procedures with log-transformation based on salinity class.

Soil microbiome and metabolome analysis reveals beneficial effects of ginseng-celandine rotation on the rhizosphere soil of ginseng-used fields

Summary: Ginseng cultivation is hindered by continuous cropping obstacles, but rotation with celandine has been shown to improve soil quality and reduce the incidence of ginseng root rot. High-throughput sequencing and GC-TOF-MS analysis revealed that the abundance of certain beneficial bacteria and fungi increased in the celandine rhizosphere soil, contributing to the improvement of soil microbiome. Pathway enrichment analysis indicated that starch and sucrose metabolism were significantly enriched in celandine rhizosphere soil, supporting the positive effect of crop rotation on soil microecosystem.

Stem-leaves of Panax as a rich and sustainable source of less-polar ginsenosides: comparison of ginsenosides from Panax ginseng, American ginseng and Panax notoginseng prepared by heating and acid treatment

Summary: The study found that Panax notoginseng had the highest content of ginsenosides, with polar ginsenosides decreasing and less-polar compounds increasing after transformation. The contents of saponins in the stem-leaves were higher than those in the roots. Notoginseng showed higher conversion rate and lower loss ratio.

Soil nutrient supply and tree species drive changes in soil microbial communities during the transformation of a multi-generation Eucalyptus plantation

Summary: The intensive management of Eucalyptus plantations has raised concerns about their impact on the environment and society, particularly regarding the transformation of monoculture plantation cutover areas. This study investigated how different transformation patterns of Eucalyptus plantations affected soil microbial communities and functions. The results showed that the transformation pattern of Eucalyptus x Manglietia glauca Blume mixed plantations significantly improved soil fertility compared to monoculture plantations.
