Rhizosphere bacteria associated with Chenopodium quinoa promote resistance to Alternaria alternata in tomato

Sidra Zahoor et al.

Summary: This study isolated multiple bacterial strains from the root-adhering soil of quinoa seedlings with potential for promoting plant growth and suppressing diseases. Among these strains, Bacillus licheniformis and Bacillus pumilus showed the most effective activities in promoting tomato plant growth and reducing disease severity caused by Alternaria alternata infection.

Assessment of Variation and Stability Parameters of Five Quinoa Genotypes under Drought Stress Conditions

Ayman E. Badran

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the differential responses of five quinoa genotypes in different environments, and found that Line 14 performs well in terms of grain yield and stability across environments, while Chipaya genotype shows the best performance under high drought stress conditions. According to yield reliability estimation, the tested genotypes have relatively high yield under drought stress conditions and high production in improved agricultural conditions and favorable environments.

First report of bacterial leaf spot on Chenopodium quinoa caused by Pseudomonas syringae in Colombia

I. Fonseca-Guerra et al.

Summary: Quinoa, considered the grain of the twenty-first century, is high in protein and beneficial for patients with obesity, dyslipidemia, and diabetes. However, its production can be affected by pathogens such as Pseudomonas syringae, as shown in this study from Colombia.

Plant-Growth Endophytic Bacteria Improve Nutrient Use Efficiency and Modulate Foliar N-Metabolites in Sugarcane Seedling

Matheus Aparecido Pereira Cipriano et al.

Summary: Beneficial plant-microbe interactions can enhance plant growth by improving biomass production, plant nutritional status, and nutrient use efficiency. The endophytic bacterial strains altered foliar free amino acid and polyamine profiles, mainly affecting the relative concentrations of specific compounds. Transcription of key genes related to nutrient uptake was not significantly influenced by the endophytic strains, indicating that complex interactions may be involved in promoting plant growth.

Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Wild.) Seed Yield and Efficiency in Soils Deficient of Nitrogen in the Bolivian Altiplano: An Analytical Review

Jesus E. Cardenas-Castillo et al.

Summary: The study investigated the yield of quinoa in nitrogen-deficient soils, highlighting that quinoa positively responds to fertilization, but there are yield differences under different irrigation conditions. Proper nitrogen fertilization can increase quinoa yield and nitrogen content, but may decrease nitrogen efficiency.

Bacterial Endophytes as a Promising Approach to Enhance the Growth and Accumulation of Bioactive Metabolites of Three Species of Chenopodium Sprouts

Mohammed S. Almuhayawi et al.

Summary: Sprouts from Chenopodium plants are enhanced in growth and nutritive value through inoculation of the endophytic bacterium Endo 2 (strain JSA11), leading to increased accumulation of bioactive metabolites such as antioxidants, vitamins, unsaturated fatty acids, and essential amino acids. The treatment also boosts antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory activities in the sprouts, demonstrating the potential of Endo 2 (strain JSA11) in enhancing the bioactive contents and biological properties of Chenopodium sprouts.
