Proteomics study of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia reveals the Fc fragment of the IgG-binding protein as a serum biomarker and implicates potential therapeutic targets

Jinrong Liu et al.

Summary: Macrolide and corticosteroid resistance has been reported in patients with Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) pneumonia (MPP). Serum biomarker FCGBP was identified as a potential indicator of severe MPP (SMPP) and biological enrichment analysis indicated uncontrolled inflammation in SMPP. Connectivity map analyses identified a mechanistic target of rapamycin kinase (mTOR) inhibitor as a promising candidate for targeting SMPP.

First report of macrolide-resistant and-susceptible Mycoplasma pneumoniae clinical strains isolated from a single case

Jing Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the biological characteristics and effect of antibiotic treatment for different Mycoplasma pneumoniae isolates co-infecting the same patient. The proportion of macrolide-resistant M. pneumoniae monoclones in the specimen cultures collected rose from 70.8% to 95.7% at the time of discharge, indicating an increase in macrolide-resistant strains after treatment but the persistence of macrolide-susceptible strains.

Case Report: Clinical Analysis of Fulminant Mycoplasma pneumoniae Pneumonia in Children

Tongqiang Zhang et al.

Summary: Fulminant Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia can affect young adults with rapid disease progression and common extrapulmonary manifestations. Early identification and intervention are crucial for saving lives and reducing sequelae. Further studies on the mechanism of FMPP are needed.
