Recent advances on nitrogen doped porous carbon micro-supercapacitors: New directions for wearable electronics

D. Baba Basha et al.

Summary: In pursuit of better utilization of renewable energy, researchers have been actively seeking suitable materials for energy storage. Porous carbon derived from biomass is considered an ideal choice for energy storage devices due to its large surface area, high conductivity, low cost, and environmental friendliness. The addition of nitrogen further enhances the physicochemical and electrochemical properties of porous carbon. A focus has been placed on improving the energy density of micro-supercapacitors, and researchers have found that electrode materials, particularly nitrogen-doped porous carbon derived from biomass, play a significant role in enhancing their performance.

Date-Leaf Carbon Particles for Green Enhanced Oil Recovery

Bashirul Haq et al.

Summary: Green enhanced oil recovery (GEOR) is an environmentally friendly process that improves oil extraction efficiency by injecting green fluids. Carbon nanomaterials such as graphene, carbon nanotubes, and carbon dots have shown great potential for increasing oil recovery. This study developed carbon nanoparticles from biomass and explored their role in GEOR. The results demonstrated that these carbon nanoparticles can be used as green chemical agents in enhanced oil recovery, leading to more economical and sustainable oil production.

Date fruit processing waste and approaches to its valorization: A review

Sepideh Oladzad et al.

Summary: Dates are a traditional and economically valuable crop in the Middle East and North Africa, playing an essential role in people's daily diets. The waste generated from date fruit production and processing, such as Date press cake (DPC), can be valorized to produce products like volatile fatty acids and activated carbon. This review discusses the feasibility of using DPC as a green precursor for various chemical and biological processes.
