Bodies and Glazes of Architectural Ceramics from the Ilkhanid Period at Takht-e Soleyman (North-Western Iran)

Stefan Roehrs et al.

Summary: This study examines the materials and technical characteristics of tiles from the Ilkhanid period at the Takht-e Soleyman site using μ-XRF, SEM/EDX, and Raman spectroscopy. The findings reveal that the tiles were made from clay or stonepaste and decorated with a mixed alkaline lead glaze. The research also identifies a correlation between the clay bodies of the tiles and the locally used kiln furniture.
