Phosphonate/Phosphine Oxide Dyad Additive for Efficient Perovskite Light-Emitting Diodes

Chenyang Zhao et al.

Summary: A novel phosphonate/phosphine oxide dyad molecular additive (PE-TPPO) is reported to enhance the device efficiency of metal-halide perovskite LEDs. The additive possesses unique dual roles of defect passivation and carrier radiative recombination enhancement. By modifying the defects and increasing local carrier concentration, this additive significantly improves the photoluminescence intensity and homogeneity of the perovskite film. The resulting green PeLEDs exhibit state-of-the-art efficiencies in terms of external quantum efficiency, current efficiency, and power efficiency.

Summary: Perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) have potential in solution-processable display applications. However, the performance of blue PeLEDs is hindered by trap-mediated nonradiative recombination losses and halide phase segregation. Modulating mixed-halide perovskite materials through defect passivation can improve the performance of sky-blue PeLEDs, achieving high external quantum efficiency and stable emission.
