Impact of Ligands on the Performance of PbS Quantum Dot Visible-Near-Infrared Photodetectors

Urvashi Bothra et al.

Summary: Solution-processed lead sulfide quantum dots (PbS QDs) are an excellent candidate for photodetector applications due to their broadband absorption, tuneable bandgaps, high stability, and flexibility. This study investigates the effect of traps on the performance of PbS QD photodetectors fabricated using different ligands. The results indicate that lead halide ligands yield the best devices with low dark current density and high detectivity.

Flow-Enhanced Flexible Microcomb Printing of Organic Solar Cells

Gengxin Du et al.

Summary: A new flexible microcomb printing method is proposed in this study, which is shown to enhance molecular alignment and mass transport through high shear and extensional strain rates. The printed organic solar cells (OSCs) demonstrate improved crystallinity and phase separation with suitable domain size, achieving higher power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) compared to control devices. Flexible OSCs with the highest PCEs reported to date for scalable printing techniques are successfully manufactured, making microcomb printing a promising strategy for efficient OSC production.

Additive-free organic solar cells with enhanced efficiency enabled by unidirectional printing flow of high shear rate

Yongzhe Li et al.

Summary: In this study, high-performance organic solar cells were prepared without any additives using the SPBP technique, which induced higher degree of ordered stacking and crystallinity of organic molecules, as well as favorable phase separation. The simplified flow model of SPBP suggests that the shear rate could be as high as similar to 1000 s(-1). The additive-free SPBP device demonstrated weaker charge recombination, higher and more balanced charge transport, and consequently better device performance than counterparts doped with additives.
