Selectively Regulating the Chiral Morphology of Amino Acid-Assisted Chiral Gold Nanoparticles with Circularly Polarized Light

Hongdan Wang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method for site-selective chirality regulation through circularly polarized light, which can control the morphology evolution of cysteine-assisted chiral gold nanoparticles and result in increased or decreased circular dichroism signal intensity. It provides a promising alternative strategy for producing high-chirality nanomaterials that can be applied in biomedicine and enantiomer photocatalytic reactions.

Template-assisted self-assembly of achiral plasmonic nanoparticles into chiral structures

David Vila-Liarte et al.

Summary: The acquisition of strong chiroptical activity has revolutionized the field of plasmonics, enabling new light-matter interactions. Self-assembly of achiral nanoparticles into optically active materials simplifies engineering of chiral geometries and allows for control of structure-optical activity relationships in nanostructures. Chiral structures like helical assemblies and patterned substrates are reviewed as platforms for chiral sensing, with future potential for incorporating semiconductor emitters into plasmonic systems to generate circularly polarized photoluminescence.

Circularly Polarized Light Source from Self-Assembled Hybrid Nanoarchitecture

Xiongbin Wang et al.

Summary: Circularly polarized luminescent inorganics can be achieved by self-assembled cellulose nanocrystals decorated with blue emitting silicon quantum dots. The circular dichroism behavior of the hybrid films is closely related to the photonic band gap, while the circularly polarized luminescence is determined by the quantum dots and photonic band gap simultaneously. The chiral composite thin films can be used as an efficient circularly polarized light source for preparing enantioselective polymer.

Asymmetric Living Supramolecular Polymerization: Precise Fabrication of One-Handed Helical Supramolecular Polymers

Chao Wang et al.

Summary: Programming the organization of semiconducting polymers to form well-defined nanoarchitectures is desirable for fabricating functional materials. In this work, semiconducting copolymers with different properties were synthesized and their self-assembling behaviors were investigated. The study demonstrated that the crystallization of polymers and the chirality of specific segments can drive the formation of well-defined nanostructures with high optical activity. Furthermore, by utilizing asymmetric copolymerization, helical supramolecular block copolymers with defined helicity and controlled length were successfully prepared. These supramolecular copolymers exhibited white-light emission and circularly polarized luminescence.

Unlocking Chemically Encrypted Information Using Three Types of External Stimuli

Hanwei Zhang et al.

Summary: A new chemical encryption approach using supramolecular gel QR (quick response) code with multiple encryption functions was reported. By assembling different supramolecular polymer gels and engraving QR code patterns, the stored information can only be retrieved when three different stimuli are applied simultaneously. Spin Filtering in Supramolecular Polymers Assembled from Achiral Monomers Mediated by Chiral Solvents

Amit Kumar Mondal et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the observation of chiral induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect in supramolecular polymers exclusively containing achiral monomers. The spin polarization correlates with the intensity of the CD spectra of the polymers, indicating a nonlocal effect. Furthermore, temperature dependence studies provide support for the contribution of phonons to spin polarization.

Near-Infrared Light-Triggered Enantioselective Photopolymerization of Polydiacetylene Films Assisted by Ag and NaYF4 Nanoparticles

Yifan Xie et al.

Summary: The study presents an example of near-infrared light-triggered enantioselective photopolymerization reactions using NaYF4 nanophosphors and chiral silver nanoparticles, resulting in a polydiacetylene film with high optical activity and chiral fluorescence. The manipulation of optical activity allows for easy control of the preferred screw direction of helical PDA chains. The proposed explanation is based on the electromagnetic field enhancement effect, which suggests that both enantioselectivity and reactivity benefit from resonance between upconverted emission and enhanced electromagnetic field near chiral AgNPs.
