Improving Extraction Performance of D2EHPA for ImpuritiesRemoval from Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries Leaching Solution byTPC[4]

Yunhui Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a mixed extractant (TPC[4]+D2EHPA) was synthesized to recover Mn2+ and remove impurities (Zn2+/Cu2+/Ca2+) from the acid leaching solution of spent lithium-ion batteries. The addition of TPC[4] significantly improved the separation efficiency of D2EHPA for Mn2+ and impurities. Furthermore, the addition of TPC[4] also helped reduce reagent consumption and environmental impact compared to traditional extraction processes.

Novel iminepyridinium -modified silicas as super-adsorbents for metals ions

Karolina Wieszczycka et al.

Summary: In this study, novel bifunctional iminepyridinium-silicas were fabricated for the effective removal of toxic metals from waste water. The synthesized materials showed high adsorption capacity for Pb(II), Cd(II) and Cu(II) and demonstrated excellent performance in terms of pH, contact time, and ability to withstand the presence of coexisting ions. Among the materials, MBr-D4IA exhibited the highest adsorption capacity for Pb(II) and Cd(II), while also co-extracting Cu(II) from synthetic waste solutions at a rate of 79%. These findings indicate the potential of these novel adsorbents for the treatment of wastewater contaminated with toxic metals.

Surface activity measurements and quantum molecular modeling - The way to extraction behavior knowledge?

Katarzyna Staszak et al.

Summary: The interfacial behavior of novel hydrophobic carboximidamide derivatives extractants has been investigated, including the influence of alkyl group type and position, as well as solvent type on adsorption and metal extraction. The relationship between interfacial activity and extraction efficiency has been discussed, and confirmation of the extractants' interfacial behavior has been achieved through quantum molecular modeling.Understanding extraction phenomena and molecular structure allows for an initial assessment of extractants' extraction properties.

Impactful modulation of micro-structures of acid-resistant picolylamine-based chelate resins for efficient separation of heavy metal cations from strongly acidic media

Zicheng Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, two acid-resistant picolylamine-based chelate resins were prepared and shown to efficiently separate heavy metal cations from strongly acidic media at lower costs compared to commercial resins. These resins exhibited higher adsorption capacities and selectivity for Ni(II) compared to the commercial resin Dowex M4195, making them promising for wastewater treatment and purification purposes.
