PO43- Coordinated Robust Single-Atom Platinum Catalyst for Selective Polyol Oxidation

Hao Yan et al.

Summary: Efficient catalytic conversion in aqueous solution with excellent resistance against leaching remains a challenge. The design of a single-atom Pt-1/hydroxyapatite (HAP) catalyst results in remarkable catalytic selectivity and stability for the oxidation of C-2-C-4 polyols to hydroxy acids. The Pt-(O-P) linkages with PO43- serve as active sites for activation of C-H bonds and destabilization of the transition state, increasing the selectivity of hydroxy acids. The strong PO43--coordination effect provides electrostatic stabilization and ensures superior leaching resistance for Pt-1/HAP catalyst.

Bio-inspired Water-Driven Catalytic Enantioselective Protonation

Si Joon Park et al.

Summary: Water plays a crucial role in enabling highly enantioselective catalytic isomerization. Under on-water conditions, the strengthened hydrogen bonds of water molecules help block bulk water access to the enantio-determining transition state, thereby enabling the enantioselective introduction of a highly ungovernable proton to a transient enediol intermediate.

Insight into the Mechanism of Glycerol Dehydration and Subsequent Pyridine Synthesis

Ding Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, glycerol was used to synthesize pyridine, and it was found that neutral glycerol could be directly converted into pyridine in an ammonia atmosphere. The research confirmed the conversion mechanism with experimental data and theoretical modeling. Additionally, the ZSM-5 catalyst played a role in shape-selectivity and altering the reaction pathway for glycerol conversion to pyridine.
