Improving Estuarine Hydrodynamic Forecasts Through Numerical Model Ensembles

Isabel Iglesias et al.

Summary: This study proposes the use of ensemble technique to improve hydrodynamic forecasts for estuarine regions and conducts empirical research in two Portuguese estuaries. The results indicate that combining multiple models can reduce prediction uncertainty and enhance the reliability and consistency of predictions for estuarine regions.

Assessment and a review of research on surface water quality modeling

Jing Bai et al.

Summary: Numerical simulation is an effective method for studying the transport and transformation of pollutants in surface water bodies, with commonly used models including AQUATOX, CE-QUAL-W2, Delft3D, EFDC, MIKE, and WASP. This study conducted a review of publications and citations related to these models, investigating their time trends and regional variations. Results showed that CE-QUAL-W2 and EFDC were the most frequently used models, and the United States and China were the top two countries using surface water quality models. Descriptions, applications, and comparisons of the selected models were provided, highlighting the importance of model coupling in surface water quality modeling.
