Immunoreactivity and neutralization capacity of Philippine cobra antivenom against Naja philippinensis and Naja samarensis venoms

Further clinical studies are needed to establish its effectiveness and dosage for different species in respective regions.

Summary: Snake envenomation is a serious problem in Sri Lanka, where Indian polyvalent antivenom has shown poor efficacy. This study evaluated the potency of a country-specific antivenom against the most medically important snakes in Sri Lanka, showing superior effectiveness compared to Indian antivenom in neutralizing venom toxicity. Introduction of Sri Lanka-specific antivenom is suggested for improved snakebite management in the region.
