Experimental method and thermodynamic model for competitive adsorption between polycarboxylate comb copolymers

Stefanie Anne Weckwerth et al.

Summary: This study introduces a method to demonstrate competitive adsorption between polycarboxylate ether (PCE) molecules of different molecular structures. By analyzing a fundamental thermodynamic model, the research reveals the impact of dispersity in charge and backbone length on the adsorption behavior of PCEs, contributing to a deeper understanding of the molecular-level working mechanism of PCEs.

Rheological properties of sprayable ultra-high performance concrete with different viscosity-enhancing agents

Jinyang Cui et al.

Summary: This research developed a sprayable ultra-high performance concrete (SUHPC) with ultra-high strength, low shrinkage, and rapid construction characteristics. The rheological properties of SUHPC were adjusted by selecting viscosity-enhancing agents (VEAs), and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) was determined as the most suitable VEA. The study also established a simple functional model to understand the rheological behavior of SUHPC materials. Furthermore, competitive adsorption between polycarboxylate superplasticizer and VEAs was discovered.

Impact of polycarboxylate superplasticizers (PCEs) with novel molecular structures on fluidity, rheological behavior and adsorption properties of cement mortar

Summary: Polyether macromonomers with diversified structures were used to synthesize a series of polycarboxylate superplasticizers (PCEs) in this study. By modifying the molecular structures, the PCEs showed enhanced adsorption ability and dispersion capacity in mortar. The results indicate potential for further application of EPEG macromonomer.
