CoxMo(1 inverted exclamation x)S2 intermixed reduced graphene oxide as efficient counter electrode materials for high-performance dye-sensitized solar cells

R. Senthilkumar et al.

Summary: Nanocomposite electrocatalysts composed of cobalt molybdenum sulfide flower-like nanosheets intermixed with reduced graphene oxide were prepared and used in high-performance dye-sensitized solar cells. The DSSCs with these electrocatalysts exhibited a higher power conversion efficiency compared to those with other counter electrode materials. The excellent electrocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite can be attributed to expanded active sites, improved charge transfer, and reduced electrode/electrolyte interface resistance.

Device Modeling of Efficient PBDB-T:PZT-Based All-Polymer Solar Cell: Role of Band Alignment

Marwa S. Salem et al.

Summary: In this study, design suggestions for all-polymer solar cells are proposed using device simulation. The performance of a polymer solar cell made of a blend of PBDB-T and PZT as the photoactive film is investigated. By calibrating the simulation models with experimental data, the device parameters are confirmed and implemented in the SCAPS simulator. To increase the open circuit voltage, different hole transport layer (HTL) materials, such as CuI and P3HT, are explored. A double HTL structure is proposed to suppress the appearance of an S-curve in the current density-voltage (J-V) characteristic. Additionally, the cell shows promising performance under low light intensity, making it suitable for indoor applications. This simulation study contributes to the development of highly efficient all-polymer solar cells.

Full Silicon Tandem Solar Cells Based on Vertically Aligned Nanostructures

Dmitry A. Kudryashov et al.

Summary: A three-dimensional computer simulation was conducted to investigate the performance of flexible double-junction solar cells consisting of Si wires and p-i-n a-Si:H structures. The results showed that the open-circuit voltage (V-OC) decreases with an increase in the height of the Si wires, while the short-circuit current density (J(SC)) for the top p-i-n a-Si:H junction increases sharply with Si wire height and saturates at a certain wire height. The absolute value of J(SC) increases with a decrease in the wire diameter. For tandem SCs, the optimal wire height is 10 μm, achieving an efficiency of 14% with specific wire diameter and charge carrier lifetime.

Perovskite-organic tandem solar cells with indium oxide interconnect

K. O. Brinkmann et al.

Summary: Multijunction solar cells can surpass the efficiency limits of single-junction devices. Metal halide perovskite solar cells, in combination with silicon and copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) or as all-perovskite tandems, have shown promising results. Narrow-gap non-fullerene acceptors have also significantly improved the efficiencies of organic solar cells. In this study, perovskite-organic tandem cells with high efficiency and voltage are demonstrated, utilizing optimized charge extraction layers and an ultrathin metal-like indium oxide layer for interconnection. This milestone work outperforms the best perovskite single junctions and is comparable to perovskite-CIGS and all-perovskite multijunctions.
