Exponential bound of the integral of Hermite functions product with Gaussian weight

C. E. Wayne et al.

Summary: In this paper, a bound on the integral of a product of two Hermite-Gaussian functions with a Gaussian weight is derived. It is proven that such integrals decay exponentially as the difference of the indices of the Hermite-Gaussian functions. These integrals naturally arise in mathematical physics and applied mathematics. The estimate is applied to a variational problem related to a Strichartz functional.

An improved method to establish continuous relaxation spectrum of asphalt materials

Lei Xi et al.

Summary: This study developed an improved method to determine the continuous relaxation spectrum of asphalt materials, demonstrating compliance with LVE theory and physical causality. The generated relaxation spectrum was accurate enough to compare the storage modulus and loss modulus values recalculated by the relaxation spectrum with those predicted by master curve models, highlighting the limitations of the Kramers-Kronig relation for establishing the relaxation spectrum of asphalt materials. Additionally, the generated relaxation spectrum was utilized to construct the relaxation modulus of mixtures and to develop the stiffness modulus of binders, both consistent with LVE theory and physical causality.

The proper orthogonal decomposition modal spectral element method for two-dimensional viscoelastic equation

Mostafa Abbaszadeh et al.

Summary: A reduced order modal spectral element method for solving a viscoelastic equation in two dimensions is proposed, utilizing the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method and Legendre orthogonal polynomials. It is shown through numerical experiments that this new method requires less CPU time than the classical approach.

Hermite Functions and Fourier Series

Enrico Celeghini et al.

Summary: The article discusses constructing bases in the space of square integrable functions on the unit circle and l(2)(Z) using normalized Hermite functions, which are related through Fourier transforms. The Gramm-Schmidt method is used for building orthonormal bases with ladder operators similar to those of the one-dimensional quantum oscillator. Rigging was constructed for both spaces to ensure continuity of operators mentioned.

Direct conversion of creep data to dynamic moduli using point-wise method

Sihyun Kim et al.

Summary: The new numerical method converts creep data to dynamic moduli without relying on viscoelastic spectra, reducing artificial waviness in the terminal regime and noise from measurement errors. This method uses point-wise polynomial regression to dramatically reduce polynomial order compared to previous methods.
