Seed Endophytic Achromobacter sp. F23KW as a Promising Growth Promoter and Biocontrol of Rhizoctonia Root Rot of Fenugreek

Ehsan M. Rashad et al.

Summary: Root rot is a significant fungal disease that limits the cultivation of fenugreek plants. This study found that endophytic bacteria in seeds can promote plant growth and inhibit root rot disease development. This research has important scientific and practical implications.

Innovative binary sorption of Cobalt(II) and methylene blue by Sargassum latifolium using Taguchi and hybrid artificial neural network paradigms

Zeiad Moussa et al.

Summary: This study optimized the biosorption of Cobalt(II) and methylene blue (MB) using Taguchi and hybrid artificial neural network (ANN) paradigms. The biosorption of Cobalt(II) was more efficient than MB, and the hybrid ANN model performed better in optimizing the biosorption. SEM and FTIR analysis revealed the crosslinking of biomolecules in the presence of Cobalt(II) and MB.

Pullulan biosynthesis and its regulation in Aureobasidium spp.

Xin Wei et al.

Summary: Different strains of Aureobasidium spp. can produce a large amount of pullulan, but the biosynthesis and regulation of it have not been resolved. Recently, the molecular mechanisms of pullulan biosynthesis and regulation have been elucidated through genome-wide mutant analysis. Pullulan biosynthesis is regulated by glucose repression and signaling pathways.

Discovering Penicillium polinicum with High-Lytic Capacity on Helianthus tuberosus Tubers: Oil-Based Preservation for Mold Management

Abdulaziz A. Al-Askar et al.

Summary: A new blue mold (Penicillium polonium) was discovered on Jerusalem artichoke tubers during preservation, and caraway and clove essential oils were found to effectively inhibit the growth of mold fungi. The treatment with these essential oils resulted in reduced severity of blue mold, sprouting, and weight loss in tubers, while maintaining higher levels of carbohydrates, inulin, protein, and defense-related phytochemicals. Caraway oil showed superior results, but the use of both essential oils proved to be an economic and eco-safe storage technique against the new blue mold at room temperature.

MEGA11 Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis Version 11

Koichiro Tamura et al.

Summary: MEGA software, a mature tool for computational molecular evolution, has been enhanced with new additions for building timetrees of species, pathogens, and gene families using rapid relaxed-clock methods. These additions include methods for estimating divergence times, confidence intervals, and new options for tagging sequences with spatiotemporal sampling information. The enhancements aim to improve user experience, result quality, and the pace of biological discovery.
