Analysis of Thermomechanical Behavior of the Tubular Braided Fabrics with Flax/Polyamide Commingled Yarns

Jinlei Li et al.

Summary: Flax fibers, known for their excellent mechanical properties and recyclability, are widely used as the strongest natural fibers in advanced composite parts. This study conducted uniaxial tensile tests on hollow tubular braided fabrics made of flax fiber materials at different temperatures and tensile speeds. The results showed that temperature and tensile speed significantly affect the strength and shear stiffness of the fabric. Additionally, a theoretical model was established to describe the shear angle on the smallest circumference of the fabric, providing a basis for subsequent simulations.

Effect of Braiding Architectures on the Mechanical and Failure Behavior of 3D Braided Composites: Experimental Investigation

Di Zhang et al.

Summary: The mechanical properties of three-dimensional braided composites (3DBC) decrease with increasing braiding angle. Different types of 3DBC exhibit different mechanical properties at different angles. Additionally, the tensile strength is generally twice as much as the compressive strength, and the compressive modulus is consistently 10% higher than the tensile modulus. The failure modes of 3DBC are also affected by the braiding angle.
