Investigation of the compaction behaviour of a quasi-unidirectional non-crimp fabric during the vacuum infusion process

Summary: This paper investigates the compaction response of a glass fibre non-crimp fabric and compares the results obtained from different measurement methods. It is found that characterization tests via a testing machine can only be used to a certain extent, while line laser measurements can be used to establish a pressure-thickness correlation model. Additionally, using a semi-permeable membrane as a venting outlet can result in thicker parts.
