Local climate zones mapping using object-based image analysis and validation of its effectiveness through urban surface temperature analysis in China

Lei Ma et al.

Summary: This study utilized object-based remote sensing image analysis to map LCZ in Shanghai, Nanjing, and Hangzhou, revealing the spatial and temporal distributions of LCZ and their relationships with surface temperatures in these cities. The findings suggest that the LCZ in these cities are mostly aggregated, with the summer heat island effect being significantly higher than in winter, demonstrating the applicability of object-based LCZ classification for characterizing urban heat islands.

3D-CNN based UAV hyperspectral imagery for grassland degradation indicator ground object classification research

Weiqiang Pi et al.

Summary: This study focuses on remote sensing ground object classification of degraded grasslands, utilizing a low altitude UAV hyperspectral remote sensing platform and a GDIF-3D-CNN classification model to classify pure pixels and all pixels datasets. The optimization of model parameters has led to improved accuracy and efficiency, providing key quantitative data for grassland degradation research.

Combination of Feature Selection and CatBoost for Prediction: The First Application to the Estimation of Aboveground Biomass

Mi Luo et al.

Summary: Increasing the number of explanatory variables in quantitative remote sensing of forest aboveground biomass may lead to information redundancy and dimensional disaster. Feature selection, particularly using the CatBoost algorithm, improves the accuracy of AGB estimates. Different combinations of feature selection methods and machine learning algorithms can significantly impact the performance of AGB estimation models.
