Prognostic implications of atrial vs. ventricular functional tricuspid regurgitation

Xavier Galloo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the difference in long-term prognosis between two types of tricuspid regurgitation (AFTR and VFTR). The results showed that patients with AFTR had significantly better survival rates compared to patients with VFTR, regardless of the VFTR subtypes.

Tricuspid regurgitation: recent advances in understanding pathophysiology, severity grading and outcome

Rebecca T. Hahn et al.

Summary: Heightened interest in tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is due to the association of mortality with severity of TR and low surgical treatment use. With the development of transcatheter solutions, there is a growing need to understand and diagnose the disease for appropriate management.

Right ventricular longitudinal strain in the clinical routine: a state-of-the-art review

Denisa Muraru et al.

Summary: Myocardial deformation imaging is an attractive clinical tool for evaluating right ventricular systolic performance. Echocardiography is currently the preferred method for clinical assessment of RV longitudinal strain (RVLS), and the methodology of 2D speckle-tracking echocardiography has been standardized. RVLS is more sensitive to subtle changes in myocardial function and is a sensitive tool for long-term patient follow-up.

Tricuspid Regurgitation Impact on Outcomes (TRIO): A Simple Clinical Risk Score

Kyla M. Lara-Breitinger et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the clinical variables that can predict the risk of mortality in patients with tricuspid regurgitation and develop an assessment tool. The results showed that age, sex, creatinine level, congestive heart failure, chronic lung disease, aspartate aminotransferase level, heart rate, and severity of tricuspid regurgitation were associated with all-cause mortality. By calculating a composite score, patients can be classified into different risk categories.
